WHAT'S BEEN GOING ON

First of all I would like to congratulate Quiltea56.  She won the drawing I had for an art journal I made.  I learned how to make the art journal in a workshop hosted by Ingrid Dijkers of Running Rabbit Studio.  The journal is made from retro pressboard file folders.  I liked the journals so much I wanted to make one to share. The file was decorated after the drawing with help from everyone watching.  It was fun to decorate and I wish you could have been there. Please contact me and let me know what your address is so I can send out the journal.

I have also been working on art journal pages using prompts.  I have been watching Beth Shuler and AuntBecscreations on YouTube.

I have also been arting along with Coleen her YouTube channel is TheScrapchic.  She has a Friday night show and has been inviting guests to paint along. And we have been using Megan Wells book Acrylic Animals for guidance and inspiration. It is a very good book to help you learn color theory or just to look at. Her art is awesome.

Last Sunday I went to my LSS Scrappy Chic in Livonia, MI and made mini journals with my Art Journal Club.  These were a lot of fun and I made more on my stream.

That is what I have been up to when I get time to art. Leave a post and let me know what art streams you like to art along with.

Quiltea56 please contact me so I can mail you your journal!

NEW ALCOHOL INKS BY MARABU

Yesterday on my stream I tried out the new Marabu alcohol inks. So far I have really liked all the maribu products I've bought. And these did not disappoint.  I don't have a lot of experience with alcohol inks. The colors are bright and vibrant. They seem to move well. They seem to do what they should. Here are some pictures of the alcohol inks on Yupo paper and glacine paper.

On my stream I did the blind 3 challenge. I randomly picked inks from the box and used what I picked. Lucky for me the color combos seemed to work and I found new color combinations I would have never chosen myself. That is always fun.

Also check out my blog post from July 4th. Leave a comment. I did not do the drawing yesterday since we had so much fun with the alcohol inks we never got to it.  I will pick a winner next Tuesday, July 23 at the beginning of my stream. I will be giving a way an art journal I made at a Ingrid Dijkers workshop. heck out her blog she is an amazing artist.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE JOURNAL

Last weekend I took a journal making class with Ingrid Dijkers.  She is a mixed media artist and owner of Running Rabbit Studio. She teaches classes around the US and has been featured in "Art Journal" and "Sommerset Studio" magazines.  Check out Ingrid at www.Ingrid Dijkers.com

We made journals out of vintage press board file folders. The class was a lot of fun and I love the journal I made. Here is a journal page I started on my stream on Tuesday. It was inspired by one of Ingrid's journal pages.

So, what I would like you to do is post on my blog and tell me if you like to make your own journal or if you work in a store bought journal. If you make your journal what do you use for the cover? And what type of binding do you do and with what?  If you buy your journal what is your favorite brand and size.Post a picture of something you have done in your favorite art journal.

I will do a drawing from everyone who replies on my stream Tuesday July 16th. The winner of the drawing will win one of the vintage file folder journals I learned to make in Ingrid's class.

There will be no stream on July 9th.

I look forward to hearing from everyone and I am especially looking forward to see your journal pages!!!

WATER COLOR SWATCHES

When a get a new set of water color paints I like to swatch them on a big sheet of paper or in my journal just to get a feel for what they look like.  Here are the Vintage Pastels from Prima done in my art journal.

I have done this on single sheets of paper and cut them up and used them as art cards with dangles  or stamps.

This time I decided to do a journal page with the dangles. I love how this turned out.  The water color paints are Prima Decadent Pies.
